Community Relations Files, 1960 - 1967

This series contains drafts of articles, correspondence and press releases relating to Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) projects that were submitted to the JPL Public Education and Information Office for approval. Many of the articles are for contractor's inhouse publications. Typical articles and releases include information lauding the specific contractor's contribution to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) projects and JPL staff corrections and approvals. Typical drafts include a contractor publicity log coversheet which documents the contractor's name and contact point, the JPL project and cognizant engineer and approvals. Contractors include Bausch and Lomb, Motorola, Texas Instruments and U.S. Steel. NASA projects include the Ranger and Surveyor lunar probes, Mariner Martian and Venetian observers.
